1. How much cost is saved for my business or my clients by using KEY?
KEY charges up to 70% less than U.S. contract attorney agencies for document reviews. Hourly, flat rate, or packaged fee per type of task billing structures are available--we build to suit--for document reviews and for Key's legal research, IP, and restructuring support services.
2. How is quality controlled by KEY?
KEY supervising attorneys, who are graduates of U.S. national law schools and who possess decades of large-firm experience, are posted both in the U.S. and in Hyderabad. They closely direct and review the work of KEY's Hyderabad team. Each Hyderabad staff attorney holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, which is the Indian equivalent of the American JD, and one-fourth of the team also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree, and each has one or more years of practicing experience as an attorney—some with more than 5 years. Further, KEY's Hyderabad staff attorneys have received hundreds of hours of on-site training in U.S. legal research methods, U.S. culture, and English—this last element of training complementing the fact of their law studies having been conducted entirely in English, with a focus on the common law. Finally, communication between U.S.-based supervisory attorneys from KEY or its customers is facilitated by state of the art video conferencing facilities.
3. How does KEY assist me in fulfilling my ethical duties to supervise the work of KEY staff attorneys?
To summarize a recent formal opinion issued by the American Bar Association (download), the outsourcing lawyer is obligated to ensure that tasks are delegated to lawyers and non-lawyers competent to perform them, and then to oversee their execution of the project adequately and appropriately. KEY's supervisory attorneys are prepared to review with you the ethical rules applicable in your jurisdiction governing the use of legal process outsourcing, and to formulate with you a suitable supervisory and review protocol. Further, all work performed in Hyderabad can be monitored remotely by KEY and by you from U.S. servers. Video conference facilities in the Hyderabad location enhance communication between U.S.-based attorneys and the Hyderabad team.
4. Is there lots of turnover on KEY's India Team?
KEY's India Team boasts a very low turnover rate. We believe this is due to careful pre-screening and rigorous training programs, but much of the credit goes to the India team members themselves. By contrast to U.S.-based contract attorneys assembled by temp agencies, KEY's India team members are hired permanently (not on a project-only basis), work together as a team on multiple projects, and are not tempted to jump out of a project for an apparently more advantageous project that becomes available elsewhere. KEY's India team members are making a career out of providing excellent legal support services.
5. What measures does KEY take to ensure security of data, efficient technical management of data, and preservation of client confidentiality?
All information received from a KEY client is stored on U.S. servers, and encrypted to prevent misuse. In Hyderabad, the computer infrastructure is state of the art, with technical support expertise available locally, 24 hours a day. The physical layout of the Hyderabad facility enables us to separate physically staff attorneys working on distinct projects and 24-hour security cameras document such separation. All computers are diskless, USB-disabled and each client network is fire-walled from external internet usage. Client information cannot be copied or emailed from the computers used by KEY staff attorneys. The Indian legal system and professional organizations in India form a final and important safeguard as well. (download) |
